April was the perfect time to pack the kids up and drive down to Texas. We rented a house on VRBO in Surfside for a week. Many of the homes are on stilts and the kids thought that was the coolest thing! The beach is beautiful and actually allows parking right on the beach, a great way to get all of your chairs, coolers, and toys to where you need.
The first night we had dinner at the Seahorse Bar and Grill, located right on the water and provides an amazing view from the patio. Our favorite bite out to eat was at Dorado's Dive Club, though! Tucked away in the marina, offering both indoor/outdoor seating with a view of the canal. This is seriously a hidden gem for anyone not familiar with the area. A smaller venue but busier as you can tell it is a local fave. All of our food was excellent, but I have to rant about the oysters! The oysters were pristine!
Because we rented a house we also decided to prepare one dinner at home. Capt. Mark's Seafood Market had a ton of fresh seafood to choose from and at a reasonable price. Making dinner at home with the family was one of the most fun nights we had!
While most of our week was spent wondering around Surfside Beach we did make the hour drive NE to spend the day at The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. This is considered off season so we were able ride rides or grab a bite to eat with little to no wait.
This was a nice easy trip and would definitely do it again!
